LSF Design Engineering was founded in 2012 by Ron Thue with the mission equal to the company name–to design products that are Lighter and Stronger and to do it in less time (Faster).
LSF uses a combination of engineering interns and seasoned-engineer-mentors working with customers to accomplish its mission. The LSF philosophy for interns, customers and the LSF company is win-win-win.
- For Student Interns: Financial support and training increasing technical expertise in the USA.
- For Customers: Lower-cost on-shore design using Lighter, Stronger, Faster (LSF) methods.
- For LSF Design Engineering: Economic strength and recognition for LSF design methods
Since 1984 Ron has worked performing and managing high-end structural analysis projects. From July 2004 to March 2012 Ron’s focus was on structural optimization in the design process. He performed and managed optimization projects for Boeing Commercial Aircraft, Bell Helicopter, ATK (Promontory, Clearfield, and Magna Utah) and other companies. As a result of his analysis and optimization experience, Ron developed the Lighter, Stronger, Faster (LSF) design method which combines the capabilities of commercially available optimization software, LSF custom software, and better material selection and placement.
LSF offices are placed adjacent to universities and staffed by engineering interns mentored by seasoned engineers. This provides an ideal environment for interns to learn by performing real-world analyses that incorporate the LSF Design Method. In addition to doing project work, these interns reach out to local high schools and teach basic LSF techniques with the goal of encouraging more young people to pursue engineering careers. And when these interns graduate, they represent an excellent pool of capable and vetted engineers.
